The niche statement: own your lane
Rung 8 of 10 · Red-team audit
1 · Learn the move · Red-team audit
'Quality construction at a fair price' says nothing because everyone says it. A niche statement names the work you actually want, the client you want it from, and the reason it's you — and then it has to survive an attack. The red-team audit is the pattern: draft the positioning, then make the AI attack its own draft like a skeptical homeowner and a hungry competitor, then rebuild from what survived. If a competitor could paste your statement over their logo, it isn't a statement yet.
You are a positioning writer, then a red team. STEP 1: draft a 2-sentence niche statement from my facts: [work I want, client I want, proof I have]. STEP 2: attack it — could a competitor claim it word-for-word? would a skeptical homeowner believe it? is every claim provable from my facts? STEP 3: rewrite from what survived. Show all three steps. Use only my facts, no invented stats or prices.
2 · Your turn. You write the prompt
Your website says 'full-service remodeling for all your home needs,' but the jobs you actually want — and win — are additions and major kitchens on houses built before 1980, because you're the one who isn't scared of what's behind the plaster. Write a prompt that drafts the niche statement and then tries to kill it.
Remember: the AI sees only your prompt, not this page. If the situation isn't in your prompt, it doesn't exist.
Optional. These shape the output when you run your prompt below, not your score.
