Wrap the day into the job log

Lesson 4 of 5 · The job week

By the end you can turn a day of texts, calls and site notes into one log entry per job: what got done, what was decided, what changed, and what is open with a name on it.

1 · Learn the move · Recipe pattern

The day's real record lives in your texts, a voicemail, a note on the dash, and your memory, which is gone by Monday. A ten-minute wrap-up fixes that if it always has the same shape. DONE: what got done, with the job name and who did it. DECIDED: what the client or you decided, one line each, with who said it. CHANGED: any scope, price or date that moved, written as old value, new value, reason, never buried in the story. OPEN: what is not finished, each with a name and a date. The model sorts your scraps into that shape and stops. It does not tidy a number it cannot see, and it does not turn 'the inspector didn't love it' into a pass or a fail. Anything missing becomes [NEEDS: ...] so you see the hole before the log closes.

Turn my notes from today into job-log entries, one per job: [paste texts, voicemails typed out, site notes]. Sections for each: DONE (who did it) / DECIDED (what, who, when) / CHANGED (old value, new value, reason) / OPEN (item, name, date). Use only what is in my notes. Any missing number, name or date = [NEEDS: ...]. Do not interpret anyone's tone; 'didn't love it' stays as I wrote it.

2 · Your turn. You write the prompt

It is 8 pm. Today the electrician roughed in the Carter kitchen, the client picked a different tile and asked what it changes on the price, the framing inspector came out to the Dalton addition and 'didn't love' the header, and the plumber texted that he can't make Thursday. Your notes are five texts, a voicemail and a photo of the tile box.

Write the prompt for this scenario as given, or swap in a real one from your own work. The score works the same either way.

Remember: the AI sees only your prompt, not this page. If the situation isn't in your prompt, it doesn't exist.

Optional. These shape the output when you run your prompt below, not your score.
