Three things, every prompt: who the AI is, what it's doing, and what the deliverable looks like. "You're a construction PM writing to a first-time renovation client" changes every word it picks, because a first-timer needs the why behind the what. Skip the role and you get a generic writer; skip the audience and you get an email your plumber would understand but your client won't. Role, task, output. Same way you'd brief a sub.

Your first-time renovation clients walked the house last night and panicked: walls open, wires hanging, pipes everywhere, and to them it looks like the job blew up. It's normal rough-in. Write a prompt for an email that talks them off the ledge.
